Change the World Your Way: New Undergraduate Degree Available
Do you know a young person who is creative, a leader and wants a college-to-career path that recognizes their many talents? Then the Integrative Human Sciences (IHS) is for them! The Department of Applied Human Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences announces the new Integrative Human Sciences or IHS undergraduate degree, which offers a dynamic approach to studying the well-being of individuals, families and communities in a global environment.
The curriculum provides students with a foundation to better understand human behavior within contexts, and to apply the knowledge and skills they are learning to real-world situations. Students select an area of concentration based on their personal and professional goals, and obtain real world experience through a required internship. Areas of concentration include community health, art, fashion studies, personal financial planning, global food systems, foreign languages and more. Opportunities for transformational experiences including education abroad opportunities, career development, the college’s Professional Mentoring Program, certifications and licensure opportunities are included in the major.
The Integrative Human Sciences major is also the major of choice for students who are pursuing careers in Family and Consumer Science (including teacher education), nursing, human services and non-profit careers.
More information on course requirements and the degree plan, including faculty and advisor contacts, can be found in the K-State course catalog or the College of Health and Human Sciences website.
