Shout Out: Lisa Martin

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

The Shout Out this week is from Candis Meerpohl, Shawnee County Extension Director, and is sent for Lisa Martin, Shawnee County EFNEP Agent. Candis writes:

"Shawnee County EFNEP Agent Lisa Martin was selected as a Preceptor of the Month by Aramark Healthcare. Lisa recently hosted a dietetic intern and her intern submitted her for this honor with the nomination below.

'Lisa positively influenced my professional and personal development in many ways. She provided clear and concise guidance and plentiful resources for me to utilize for my learning plan and project. Lisa introduced me to many people within the community and provided me with opportunities to collaborate with others for nutrition education experiences in many contexts. She was very encouraging and highlighted my top Clifton strengths and past experiences throughout the rotation.

Lisa is a lifelong learner who empowers those who work with her. Working with Lisa has allowed me to experience many coalition teams that can come together to serve the community. She is dedicated to service and to keeping up to date on the latest evidence-based practice by attending lectures weekly. She continuously mentors and hones the skills of her nutrition educators and provides additional training to best influence the communities that they serve. Lisa set a great example for how big of a difference you can make as a Dietitian in the community setting.'

Congrats Lisa, all these words of affirmation are well deserved. You lift Extension in Shawnee County every day and taking on extra efforts to help others, like you did with your intern, is part of your teaching and giving character."

Lisa, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
