Shout Out: Karen Blakeslee

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

The Shout Out this week comes from Ashley Svaty, Nutrition, Food Safety and Health Agent in Post Rock District and is directed to Karen Blakeslee, Extension Associate and Rapid Response Coordinator in Animal Sciences and Industry. Ashley writes:

"I would love to give Karen Blakeslee a shout out for the work she put into the two “Train the Trainer” style food preservation workshops she facilitated in March. She worked with a team of agents to hold these workshops in Independence and Scott City and secured canning supplies from Newell Brands for the agents free of charge. Personally, I am much more confident in my food preservation skills after the 3-day training, and I can’t thank Karen enough for all the work she has done to help us agents navigate our clients' food preservation questions over the years. We are so incredibly lucky to have Karen on our KSRE team!"

Karen, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.

Thanks!
Ashley
