KSRE Local Foods Systems Statewide Local Foods Virtual Town Hall- July 27, 11 a.m.

Submitted by Londa Nwadike

The KSRE local food systems TDT would like to invite everyone to our next statewide quarterly local food systems virtual town hall scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, from 11 a.m. - noon. The goal of the meeting is for people working in the area of local food systems across Kansas to be able to share what your organization is working on related to local food systems and learn what other organizations are doing so that we can all work together to strengthen local food systems in Kansas.

The agenda for the July 27 virtual town hall includes:

1) Five minute presentations by:

a. Rial Carver- 2022 Rural Grocery Summit recap; Lauren Schaumberg, Mid America Regional Council- Rural Grocery Convening
b. Nick Levendofsky- new Kansas Farmers Union Executive Director
c. Tim Steffensmeier- Kansas State University- K-State 105 and local food systems
d. Jenny Memmott, University of Kansas Center for Public Partnerships and Research

2) Open discussion about upcoming/ ongoing local food systems-related grants in Kansas:

a. KSRE application for a USDA Regional Food Systems Program grant
b. Kansas Department of Agriculture: Farm to Food Bank and Farm to School grants
c. Any others?

3) Brief announcements of upcoming local food systems events/initiatives in Kansas that will be occurring in the next few months- everyone is welcome to share announcements that you might have in this area.

Please register to join the session at http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=tvkeonpab&oeidk=a07ej5qw6ji279a3c2b. Please feel free to forward this registration link to anyone interested.

We do plan to record the session in case you are not able to make it at that time. We look forward to “seeing” many of you online on July 27 from 11 a.m. -  noon. Please contact Clara Wicoff,  clarawicoff@ksu.edu, if you have any questions about registering for the town hall.
