Vivid Safety Training

Submitted by Carla Nemecek

Over the last several years, the College of Agriculture has been strengthening worker safety across all departments. As KSRE employees under the college, extension agents are required to participate in this effort. The regional directors and I worked with the college safety officer to get an approved set of training modules for agents. Some agents have been required to complete one or two of these modules when following up on a workers compensation claim. Other local unit employees are not required to complete the safety modules.

On June 29, we recorded an on-line module training with the platform administrator. Please share this information with your agents so they can begin utilizing the modules. You are welcome to watch the video or simply get on the site and find your way around.

The safety training consists of eight on-line training modules that take 10-20 minutes each to complete. The modules are: General Office Safety, Office Ergonomics, Slips, Trips and Falls, Ladder Safety, Back Safety and Injury Protection, Electrical Safety, General Driving Safety and Distracted Driving.

All agents will be required to complete the trainings by the end of this year (2022) and then every three years. New agents will complete the trainings in their first four months and then be added to the three year cycle. The system is designed to send out reminders for individuals to complete their courses.
