Financially Speaking: Summer Activities

Having kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, or other youth in your life can lead to chances to have summer adventures. Here are a couple of resources to help lower the cost of those summer adventures.

1. SunflowerSummer.org – This app connects you to over 220 places that will allow youth and up to 2 adults to go places for free. On the webpage, you can explore the options and get links to download the app. To travel with grandkids or other youth that you are not the guardian of, the parents or guardians will need to download the app, select the location and transfer the tickets to you. This works for groups like 4-H Clubs to take educational tours this summer. This program opened May 25 and continues until August 11. This is a project of Kansas Tourism.

2. KidsBowlFree.com – This website connects you with locations that will allow youth to bowl 2 free games every day. We have 12 locations in Kansas and over 1,500 bowling centers across several countries. Some centers might charge for shoe rental or have restricted hours. Parents can buy a family pass that will allow up to 4 adults to bowl free with the youth. This program will end date varies by location.
