Local Unit Civil Rights Files
Submitted by Jennifer R Wilson
Each local unit is responsible for maintaining a civil rights file. The local unit civil rights file should provide documentation of civil rights compliance efforts. The file should contain documentation from the current year and the three prior years. It is the responsibility of local unit personnel to review and update the file each year.
In an Extension district, a duplicate file should be kept in each county office. Everyone who works in the local unit office, including office professionals and program assistants, should know where the files are kept and how to access them.
A list of items that should be in the civil rights file can be found on the KSRE Civil Rights website. Contact Extension Operations with questions about the checklist.
