CDC's health equity graphic

Health equity is achieved when every person has the opportunity to “attain his or her full health potential” and no one is “disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances.” Community health uses science-based approaches for the greatest health benefit to the greatest number of people by addressing social, economic and structural drivers that impact health.

READ NOW: Earlier this month, KHI (Kansas Health Institute) released its Annual Insurance Update 2021 report that uses the latest available data (from 2019) to provide information about insurance coverage in Kansas and highlights areas where disparities in coverage may be growing.

USE NOW: The IKC (Immunize Kansas Coalition) has released their new Teen Modules Series. The three, 20-40 minute modules help young people learn about vaccines. Youth participants will receive a downloadable certificate at the completion of each self-study module available here.

LEARN NOW: A capstone paper of the National Governor’s Association, highlights lessons learned from states (Alaska, California, New Jersey, and Tennessee) that served as models for statewide approaches that prevent and address ACEs - Adverse Childhood Experiences. The paper features the goals, policy, and programs developed and launched by states that were selected for the project (Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wyoming). Kansas ACEs data and information are available through KDHE

FOR THE SEASON: A friend recently recommended the short film, "Empathy: The Human Connection" from the Cleveland Clinic (4:15 minutes).  Share widely.
