Small Livestock EID Tag Order Deadline Approaching
The deadline to order Kansas 4-H Small Livestock EID tags is quickly approaching next week on January 15. This includes swine, sheep, and meat goat tags. The completed and signed order form, as well as payment, must be received by the deadline for an extension unit's order to be accepted.
Please email a copy of the order form to Lexie before mailing it. Include your extension unit in the subject of the message. Checks should be made payable to Kansas State University.
Market swine, commercial breeding gilt, market lamb, commercial breeding ewe, and all meat goat projects that will be nominated for the Kansas State Fair Grand Drive and/or KJLS are required to be tagged with a Kansas 4-H EID tag. There is a possibility hogs will be tagged with an 840 EID prior to the county tagging (animal purchased out-of-state, etc.). If you have this situation with a pig the family plans to nominate for a state show, contact Lexie for guidance. There is an alternative protocol for these animals.
Kansas 4-H EID tags must have been issued within the last 5 years to be eligible for state nomination.
Order forms and further details on livestock project tagging may be found on the Youth Livestock Program website, under EID tags. The page also provides a summary of orders received thus far, including payment status.
