Statewide Listening Sessions Look for Input on College of Agriculture Dean, KSRE Director Search

Submitted by Office of the Provost

From January 6, 2025, K-State Today:

Provost and Executive Vice President Jesse Perez Mendez will host several community listening sessions at locations across the state to discuss K-State's upcoming search for the next Eldon Gideon Dean of the College of Agriculture and director of K-State Research and Extension.

The listening sessions will seek input on goals for the college and opportunities and expectations for the next dean. Community attendees will also be able to provide feedback on desired professional qualifications, personal characteristics and short- and long-term priorities from potential candidates.

Listening session stops include:

Thursday, Jan. 9
• 9:30-10:30 a.m. — Oscar's of Hoxie, 845 Main Street, Hoxie.
• 2-3 p.m. — Lecture hall in the Academic Building, Garden City Community College, 801 Campus Drive, Garden City.

Friday, Jan. 10
• 11 a.m. to noon — Conference room in the Southeast Research and Extension Center, 25092 Ness Road, Parsons.

Those interested in attending should register for their desired session online. A Zoom attendance option is available upon request to cbourne@k-state.edu.

Feedback may also be submitted directly to Provost Mendez at jpmendez@k-state.edu or to search firm partner Martin Baker at martin@buffkinbaker.com.

The national search will look for a successor to Dean Ernie Minton, who will transition to a new role in July supporting the College of Agriculture's philanthropic priorities.

Further details on the search will be announced in K-State Today.
