Participate in a Study of Ways that Natural Disasters Affect Extension Employees

Submitted by Elizabeth Kiss

A research team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is conducting a study to better understand how extension employees are impacted by their work related to disaster response and recovery (University of Nebraska-Lincoln IRB approval number: 20201120735EX ). The team is recruiting extension employees who have been involved with disaster response and recovery to participate in either focus groups or individual interviews. The goal of the focus groups and interviews is to better understand (1) the roles that extension employees play in disaster response and recovery, (2) the ways that natural disasters affect extension employees, (3) the needs of extension employees related to disaster response and recovery, and (4) key resources that have been helpful.

Information from the focus groups and interviews will be used to design a toolkit of resources for extension employees who are coping with disasters.

The focus groups and interviews will be conducted online via Zoom and will last approximately one hour. If you are interested in participating or would like additional information, contact: Holly Hatton-Bowers, hattonb@unl.edu; or Gilbert Parra, gparra2@unl.edu.
