Shout Out: Trisha Greene
Today's Shout Out comes from Amy Collins, 21 Central District Director; and is directed to Trisha Greene, Family and Consumer Sciences agent in 21 Central District. Amy writes:
"I wanted to send a shout out to Trisha Greene, FCS Agent for 21 Central District. This past spring, Trisha put together a committee to work towards establishing a day care in Edwards County. They started with a needs assessment designed by Dr. Bradford Wiles, KSRE specialist, which indicated that day care was a definite need in Kinsley. Before they knew it, in three months they had three new day cares up and running in their small, rural community of Kinsley. Just this past week, Trisha and the committee were able to secure funding from their commissioners to purchase a building in Lewis, KS for a fourth day care.
Trisha has also started a new childcare committee in St. John, KS in Stafford County. A needs assessment was completed by almost 200 county residents indicating that there are 70 children in need of day care in Stafford County. That means Stafford County could potentially support 4-5 day cares! Now the real work begins to locate facilities, providers and equipment for each day care. The economic impact this will have within the district is yet undetermined, but establishing day cares in both communities will play a huge role in getting young mothers back into the work place if they so choose. I truly appreciate Trisha’s time, efforts and dedication as she has worked tirelessly to accomplish great things in 21 Central District."
Trisha, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.
If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
