That's a Wrap on 2025 4-H Summer Camp!

Submitted by Mindy R. Weixelman

Another incredible summer of fun has come to a close at Rock Springs Ranch!

Camp Director Jared Gleason and the summer camp team have collected and reviewed all of the valuable feedback provided by campers and their families and are already making plans for next summer.

The 2025 summer camp season was filled with highlights. Here are a few you might find interesting:
Youth from 78 Kansas counties were represented at camp this summer, an increase from last year!

  • Specialty camp opportunities continue to grow and reflect the interest of campers. In addition to Ranch Camp and Shooting Sports Camp, we launched the first-ever Cooking Camp and Outdoor Wilderness and Leadership Skills (O.W.L.S) Camp.
  • The Top 10 counties for camp registration included Riley, Cheyenne, Johnson, Wabaunsee, Douglas, Dickinson, Sedgwick, Republic, Pottawatomie, and Geary.
  • More than 600 campers experienced 4-H camp for the first time!
  • 52% of campers reported that they were currently enrolled in 4-H.

In the coming weeks, 4-H agents will receive a report via email from Jared including information about campers from your area who are not yet enrolled in the Kansas 4-H program. My hope is that you will contact these youth and invite them to learn and explore more about 4-H and their local community club.

If you have any questions related to camp, please feel free to contact Jared by calling (785) 257-3221 or by email at jgleason@rockspringsranch.org.

Thank you for encouraging 4-H youth to enjoy a summer camp experience!
