IFYE Hosting for 2022 Year
Submitted by Dr. Mary Kay Munson
As one of the original hosts for Young Adults in the International Farm Youth Exchange (IFYE) in 1948, Kansas 4-H Youth Development was happy to resume this annual opportunity for Kansas families to host rural young adults under the IFYE Exchange after COVID. Laura Emmert from Germany spent approximately three weeks each with four Kansas families between June and September. The families and their towns, Extension Districts, are as follows:
John and Ginny Buttenhhoff Family, Lincoln, Post Rock District
Barb Ruhnke Family, Long Island, Phillips Rooks District
Mark and Kim Viets Family, Girard, Wildcat District
Scott and Jennifer Pfortmiller Family, St. John, Central Kansas District
Kansas expects to host IFYE’s from participating countries throughout the world again next summer. Information is available on the Kansas 4-H website: Global Citizenship | Events and Activities | Kansas 4-H Youth Development, or email Coordinator Chelsy Champlin at chelsycoen@gmail.com.
