Pollution Prevention Week is September 19-25

Submitted by Abigail Crouse

P2 Week

K-State’s Pollution Prevention Institute encourages you to participate in Pollution Prevention (P2) Week, September 19-25, 2022. P2 Week is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to focus on how to better reduce waste, improve efficiency and decrease energy use. Incorporating P2 practices into daily routines at home and work can help improve the environment and lower energy costs.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency offers several P2 tips for the home, including how to find safer products, how to make your home more energy efficient and sustainable and how to reduce the amount of garbage and household hazardous wastes. A full list of the EPA’s home tips can be found at https://www.epa.gov/p2week/pollution-prevention-tips-home.

Businesses looking for pollution prevention ideas should visit the PPI website, sbeap.org, where there are more than 90 case summaries that profile a variety of ways to incorporate P2 and reduce costs. PPI also offers environmental technical assistance to Kansas businesses. For more information, call 800-578-8898 or email ksu-ppi@k-state.edu.

For more information on P2 week, visit the EPA’s website, https://www.epa.gov/p2week.
