Happy fall and Hispanic Heritage Month!

This September the Diversity Programs Office supported National Suicide Awareness Month, National Suicide Prevention Week (September 4-10), and the positive mental health initiatives, along with the other monthly observances.

On September 7, the DPO and the K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Chapter partnered with Project IMPACT, the K-State Career Center, and Frontier Farm Credit to host the first K-State MANRRS Career Readiness Workshop. Thanks to all for making this event a success.

This week, September 19-23, is K-State MANRRS and Voter Registration Awareness Week, please join us in celebrating! Yesterday, we hosted a Membership and Voter Registration Drive in partnership with K-State MANRRS, K-State Library Ambassadors, and the Kappa Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. held in Hale Library, 10 -11:30 a.m.

Today, September 20, K-State MANRRS will partner with K-State International Student and Scholar Services and the National Postdoctoral Association to host the Post-Doctoral International Student Panel at the International Student Center from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Tomorrow, September 21, in Waters Hall Lobby the College of Ag and DPO will be hosting Cargill for a coffee hour from 8 - 10 a.m. A Voter Registration Drive will follow in Waters Hall Lobby from 10-11:30 a.m. Additionally, the K-State MANRRS Corporate Showcase will be held in Waters Hall 328 at 6 p.m. This showcase will feature the Peace Corps, Ardent Mills, Merck Animal Health, Purina, Cargill and Smithfield Foods.

On Thursday, September 22, K-State MANRRS will be hosting a Voter’s Registration Drive from 10-11:30 a.m. in the K-State Student Union and an IHOP Fundraiser from 4-10 p.m. at IHOP. Finally, on Friday, September 23, K-State MANRRS and Kansas State First Book (KSFB) will host a book panel over “The Unthinkable” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register Here.

Other notable events include the HALO Encuentro on October 4, through Diversity & Multicultural Student Affairs, where K-State MANRRS will have a table. Also on October 4, John Deere Co. will facilitate a Student Leader Diversity Training at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. On October 7, the DPO will present at the Michael Tilford Conference at Washburn University. On October 11 at 4:30 p.m., the “Growing Our Mindset” Diversity forum will be in the Wildcat Chamber (Student Union). The speaker is Ryan Locke, Industry Relations Manager for FMC. He will discuss the importance of including retention and development in your DEI Strategy. The Gardiner Lecture will also be October 11, at 7 p.m. in McCain Auditorium. Additionally, the K-State MANRRS Chapter will be taking a student delegation to the MANRRS Regional Cluster, October 14-15, held in Dallas, Texas.
