Welcome Annie Baker and Terry Roberts!

Submitted by Cheryl Boyer

Annie Baker (Left) and Terry Roberts (Right)

Annie Baker joined the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources (HNR) on January 18, as our new statewide Extension Master Gardener (EMG) Program Coordinator. Many of you have already begun working with her as we've launched the Fall 2022 EMG Basic Training. A native of Kansas, Annie earned a B.S. in Parks Management and Conservation from HNR in 2003 and an M.S. in Education (Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in secondary science education) from KSU in 2011. She most recently worked as a program coordinator and senior outreach specialist for the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She also served as an environmental educator and program assistant at the Konza Prairie Biological Station, seasonal interpreter at Cherry Creek State Park in Colorado, volunteer relations & campaign coordinator for the KSU Foundation, and an environmental education instructor at Rock Springs 4-H Center in Junction City. Annie brings a wealth of knowledge about volunteer program management and environmental science education to our teams. She has already hit the ground running and is making wonderful progress with the Kansas EMG program.

Annie will work closely with our newest team member, Terry Roberts, who joins the Departments of Entomology, HNR, and Plant Pathology as our Training Support Specialist with the Extension Integrated Pest Management Team. She will serve as a vital team member on the Extension Implementation grant and help us achieve our project objectives. Terry will be helping with Extension Master Gardener training, the K-State Garden Hour webinar series, and Commercial Applicator Training (to name a few).

Terry most recently served as a Program Coordinator for Kansas 4-H Youth Development, where she provided programmatic support for a grant from the Kansas Department of Education. Before this, Roberts managed the Kansas 4-H Online system and provided leadership to various projects within the State 4-H Office. Terry is passionate about serving others, building relationships and spending time with her family.

Please join us in welcoming Annie and Terry--we are delighted to have them on our teams!
